Civita di Bagnoregio and the Park of the Monsters in Bomarzo
From the Bed & Box apartments you can reach in a day two of the most photographed sights in Tuscia: Civita di Bagnoregio and the Sacred Grove of Bomarzo.
Civita di Bagnoregio
Founded by the Etruscans on a tuff outcrop, Civita is known as the dying town because of the constant erosion of the clay valleys around it. It can only be reached on foot, across a long pedestrian bridge.
Entry to the village is ticketed and the bridge is fairly steep: bring comfortable shoes and check current opening times and prices on the official site of the Municipality of Bagnoregio.
The Park of the Monsters in Bomarzo
The Sacred Grove of Bomarzo was commissioned in the 16th century by Vicino Orsini: a park filled with colossal sculptures carved in peperino, including the Ogre, the war elephant and the famous Leaning House.
It is an outdoor visit suitable for families, along gently sloping paths. Opening times and tickets are listed on the park's official website.
