Cycling in Tuscia: mountain bike trails and road routes
From Viterbo's old town you are out of the city within minutes: woods and gravel tracks on the Cimini hills for mountain biking, climbs and scenic loops towards the volcanic lakes for road cycling. Bed & Box offers a locked garage where you can store your bikes free of charge.
Mountain biking on the Cimini hills
- Trails and gravel roads in the beech forest of Monte Cimino, above Soriano nel Cimino
- Loops through the woods around Lake Vico, inside the nature reserve
- The Etruscan "vie cave" and tuff paths towards Vitorchiano and Bomarzo
Road cycling among lakes and villages
- The Lake Bolsena loop, passing through Montefiascone and Capodimonte
- Climbs towards Caprarola, Ronciglione and Lake Vico
- Etruscan countryside towards Tuscania, on quiet roads
When to ride
Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons; in summer it is better to set off early in the morning, while the Cimini woods stay cooler even in the middle of the day.
Viterbo also works well for those arriving by train at Porta Romana station, a few minutes from the apartments.
The garage for bicycles
The garage is locked and reserved for guests: your bikes stay under cover for the whole stay, at no extra cost.
